RF Electrets

RF Electrets microphones provide digital and analog solutions with directive, omni, and noise-cancelling elements.  The integrated housing is designed to achieve acoustic excellence with the ID parameters.  These microphones include our patented μTechnologies designs which offer unparalleled performance:

  • μNoise: HARMAN has developed μNoise technology, which takes typical component microphone SNR to near pro-audio levels.
  • μEMI:  HARMAN has engineered μEMI technology into the component microphone.  Our μEMI technology is a wideband EMI noise suppression circuit that is built into the microphone element and stops spurious RF energy from 100MHz to 4GHz.
  • μWind: HARMAN has developed the proprietary μWind technology to combat wind-induced noise at the microphone component level, reducing wind noise by up to 10dB over conventional microphone components.

Traditional MEMS

Traditional MEMS microphones provide a high-performance solution in a very small package. This microphone is ideal for arrays, with top and bottom ports and up to 65dB SNR.  Traditional MEMS have surface mount technology that improves reliability and intelligibility and reduces the production costs.  The Embedded Audio team are experts in microphone placement and DSP requirements


Directional MEMS

As world’s first commercially available directional MEMS microphone, this patented design significantly reduces acoustical coupling and echo. HARMAN directional MEMS have an industry leading SNR of up to 67dBA and provide a better performance at a lower cost – directional MEMS eliminate the need for microphone arrays and digital signal processing beam-forming (see table below). They provide consistent performance within a wide variety of applications. HARMAN directional MEMS are available in analog and digital, uni-directional and noise-cancelling.
